Spring Start-up

Spring Renewal

Embrace the bloom of spring by rejuvenating your irrigation system. Ensure a seamless start-up for a season of lush landscapes.

Start-up Your Irrigation System

  1. Inspect the System: Check all components of the irrigation system, including pipes, valves, and sprinkler heads, for any signs of damage or wear.

  2. Reconnect Hoses and Components: If you disconnected hoses or removed any components during the winterization process, reconnect them securely.

  3. Turn On the Water Supply: Gradually open the main water supply to the irrigation system. This should be done slowly to prevent water hammer and system damage.

  4. Check for Leaks: Monitor the system for any leaks once the water is flowing. Address and repair any leaks promptly.

  5. Prime the Pump (if applicable): If your irrigation system has a pump, ensure it is primed and functioning properly.

  6. Program the Timer: Adjust the irrigation system timer to meet the watering needs of the season. Update watering schedules and durations based on the current weather conditions.

  7. Test Zones: Activate each irrigation zone individually to verify that all sprinklers are working correctly. This allows you to identify and address any issues with specific zones.

  8. Inspect and Adjust Sprinkler Heads: Check the alignment and operation of each sprinkler head. Clean or replace any clogged nozzles and adjust the direction and range of the sprinklers as needed.

  9. Monitor Coverage: Ensure that each zone provides adequate coverage without overspray onto sidewalks, driveways, or other non-landscaped areas.

  10. Mulch and Landscaping Check: Inspect the mulch and landscaping around sprinkler heads to ensure they are in good condition. Make adjustments to prevent water wastage and optimize irrigation efficiency.

  11. Evaluate Soil Moisture: Consider the moisture levels in the soil and adjust watering schedules accordingly. Be mindful of rainfall and temperature changes.

By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth and effective start-up of your irrigation system in preparation for the spring and growing season
